Stand up for Change. Make your Social Resolution for 2009
The New Year is here and you’re probably already thinking about the year ahead. This is the time that we come up with New Year’s Resolutions to change our lives.
This New Year's, instead of making a resolution to change something about yourself, why not make a Social Resolution and commit to changing the world around you?
Villages Connected is inviting socially conscious individuals, business owners and nonprofit organizations to re-imagine the traditional resolution by committing to acting socially. We simply ask that you share your resolution with your fellow community members by posting it on our new website that is now live.
Post your resolution simply in the Discussion Forum on this site. While you’re at it, try answering these questions:
What do you plan to do at home or abroad?
Who you will collaborate with to make it happen?
Why is this resolution important to you?
Individuals could donate to a humanitarian organization, volunteer in their community, or even read a book to learn about an issue. Non-profits can lay out how they will foster change and showcase this year’s priorities. Businesses can commit to building their corporate social responsibility through donations, volunteer projects or partnerships with non-profits.
It doesn’t matter whether your resolution leads to change in Canada or the Congo. What matters is that you make it happen.
Remember, this is a community-driven venture, so why not comment on and help with each other's resolutions?
The path towards changing the world lies before each of us. By committing ourselves to realizing our Social Resolutions through collaboration we can take the first steps.
